SAVING PETS — AND WATER! Humane Society Silicon Valley received a Silicon Valley Water Conservation Award on Monday, which happened to be World Water Day. The primary reason for the honor — from the aptly named Silicon Valley Water Conservation Awards Coalition — was the Humane Society's new animal facility in Milpitas. It's loaded with environment-friendly features and uses 45 percent less water than comparable shelters. No doubt they'll be crowing about the award at this year's Fur Ball. The black-tie affair, where owners are encouraged to bring their pets, takes place April 17 in the Great America parking lot. Go here for all the details. |
